It all starts with footwork.
The body must be square to the target and the shot comes from the legs, not the arms.
If you watch Ray Allen shoot, really study his shot. His movement is fluid and balanced and he makes it look effortless as he makes basket after basket again and again.
Feet square to the hoop always and elbow under the ball to give you the balance in the perfect shot. Your off hand stabilizes the ball, but nothing more. As you rise off the floor in your jump shot, your power comes from your legs.
As you shoot, keep the elbow tight "in your pocket" and make sure to follow through after the release of the ball.
Shooting is repetition and muscle memory, so once you find the perfect shot, you must practice it again and again to become the best. Shoot hundreds of shots a day and do it the same way each time.
